Three years ago today I walked into Taipei, a Chinese restaurant in Pittsburgh. I was meeting a group of pastors, but I'd also heard that a certain single girl might be in attendance. Sure enough, as I walked up to the back table where our group was gathered, I did a double take.
Leah Edwards stood to greet my friend and I. Her dark brown hair was pulled back at the top. She was wearing a long, black sweater draped over dark blue jeans. I was so captivated by her dark eyes and high cheek bones that I didn't even notice her knocking over her chair as she stood to meet me.
After dinner I asked her if she had time for coffee. We went to Borders and sat in the corner in the red comfy chairs and continued to talk. That was Thursday night--the day after Valentine's Day. On Friday I called her to see if she'd like to have breakfast on Saturday before I left for Detroit. We did. Then Saturday night, after a long drive home, and with an early morning of preaching quickly approaching, we talked for another two hours...on the phone! And that's when I knew.
This girl was special.
Leah, thanks for making the past three years the best of my life. I love you, and can't wait to experience the rest of this adventure with you!
Wow, Baby! What a memory! I love you, too! I wouldn't want to be doing this adventure with anyone else!
