I started Twittering in October, 2007. Since then, my Twitter attention span has been very short. Lately though I've been more engaged. The more I do it, the more I like it.
I've been meaning to write a thoughtful post about why I Twitter and then came across this post from John Piper this morning. Brilliant. Classic Piper.
Here is my favorite part of his post:
The sovereign Lord of the earth and sky
Puts camels through a needle’s eye.
And if his wisdom see it mete,
He will put worlds inside a tweet.
Read the rest of his thoughts here.
Piper talks about how we can help people know God through Twitter. In addition, I think it's also helpful to be able to open our own lives to people. Paul thought it was a good thing that the Thessalonians knew how he had lived among them. That's never been more possible than it is today, through the proper use of technologies like Twitter. So while there may not be extensive eternal value in knowing that at 10 am the cat pulled the curtains down, it may help explain why you saw your pastor walking into Pet Supplies Plus to trade in his cat.
Thankfully, I don't have a cat. But I'd still love to connect! You can follow me here.
Twitter's not for everyone. But if you're even mildly intrigued, why not give it a try.
:) Love it! I found your blog through Twitter, actually(not sure how exactly), and wanted to say hi. My sis is Em Gocke, and she and Phil both speak so highly of you and your wife. :)
