Q: Day 1

Long day. Good day. First day at Q.

I was going to post more information from each presentation, but instead I'll just send you to Scott's blog since he's already done it!

I did have the opportunity to connect with two different people who are church planting in my neck of the woods.  The first is actually the guy I was randomly selected to sit next to.  He planted a universtiy church in Ann Arbor, targeting students at U of M.  I sat next to the second guy in one of the breakout sessions.  (He was wearing a Detroit Lions hat).  When I saw the hat I knew...this guy's from Michigan.  You've got to understand, no one adopts the Lions.  Come to find out, he's working toward planting a church in downtown Detroit and works ten minutes from our church. 

And I had to come all the way to NYC to meet him:)

Off to Q

I'm really looking forward to the rest of the week.  The alarm is set for 4.00 am so I can catch the first flight out tomorrow morning for New York City. 

Northway Community Church, the church that Leah spent the last six years working for, is paying for me to attend the Q conference this week.  What a blessing!  Can't wait to get to know some of the guys from Northway and to hang with some of the leading thinkers in the country when it comes to the intersection between church and culture.

And the bonus is that on Thursday I get to take a tour of Redeemer's church planting center.  Redeemer is the church that Tim Keller leads, a church that's planted dozens of churches throughout NYC.  Tim Keller is also a speaker at the conference.  In honor of the occasion I'll be reading his new bestseller on the plane.

Saturday Night Unwind

Tonight's been a treat.  I'm watching the final four with my bride with a bucket of popcorn on the coffee table.  Everything feels right with the world:)

If you're one of the three people who follow my twitter feed, you may not think that I've done anything for eleven days.  That's actually a tiny bit misleading:)  I started graduate school last fall, so I'm working on a Master's in Church Leadership.  Every now and then enough school work builds up to create the perfect storm.  That was this week.  So after a forty page paper, three books, and six book reports (and my day job)! I'm finally taking a deep breath.

Can't wait to teach week 3 of the Epic series tomorrow.  Until then, I'm pulling for Kansas.  They're my only hope for a respectable finish to my bracket.
