I spent the day in Springfield, Missouri. A few months ago I partnered with four friends to launch a blog that's been dreaming about the future of the AG fellowship. Dr. George Wood, the new General Superintendent for the AG, invited us to spend the day with him. His only agenda was to ask us questions and respond to ours.
I just arrived back at my hotel extremely encouraged. I found Dr. Wood to be a fascinating, intelligent, visionary leader who "gets it." He's a master story-teller. I felt like spending a day with him was one solid leadership lesson.
Dr. Wood said several things that I hope to remember, including one statement he made during dinner that really struck me. He was telling us the story of an anointed friend of his who fell away from God while leading a church. As a result the pastor stopped leading prayers during his worship services. Then Dr. Wood made this observation.
He knew God well enough to talk about him. But he knew God too well to talk to him.
Great day! In a few hours I'll be on a plane headed back home. Now I'm thinking that 4.30 wake up calls ought to be outlawed:)
You are the man......
