I took our Movements team to visit Real Church in Hamtramck last night. Real Church was started a few years ago by Chilly Chilton and a pioneer team of young adults. They've built a solid ministry in one of the most ethnically diverse parts of the inner city.
Discipleship is a lifestyle for Chilly. He lives to make people better. His leadership team joined us and Chilly taught us all for close to two hours. I love that he gave our small group of church planting students his best.
He shared one thought that's been ringing in my ears today. Discipleship is not just teaching someone to be a Christian. Discipleship is teaching someone to be a Christian like me.
Follow me as I follow Christ.
So here's the million dollar question. Do you want someone to be a Christian like you?
Mentoring and discipling is bigger than just growing someone else. It's about growing yourself.
Great thoughts!

I am one of the ladies in the last picture, and was delighted to see the end of the day. Your blog is very interesting and I was inspired by your encouraging prayer. God Bless You. You're an inspiration. Thank you.
