We had a long staff meeting last night. I wasn't really surprised because we labeled it beforehand as a dream session. Those tend to go longer.
The subject of our dreaming was our first service. We have two services on Sunday, the first at 9.00 am and the second at 11.00. Our second service is at capacity. It has no more room to grow. If we are going to reach more people then we've got to jump start the 9.00 service.
I know one thing for sure. God wants us to reach more people. We're not done growing, so that's the no-brainer. The questions we are asking now have to do with how to best do that.
I liked alot of the ideas that were put on the table last night. Now I'm just in listening mode. If you're at COTK I'd love to hear what you think? What can we do to reach more people at 9.00 am? Email me. Call me. Tackle me after service this Sunday:) Let's talk!
By the way, I love to brag on our church. Our people are filled with faith. We've been on a miracle ride for almost 5 years. I can't wait to experience the twists, turns, drops and thrills of the next 5.
Add a breakfast before the 9:00 AM service...people love food and Starbucks coffee.

I like the starbucks idea, but it might help to add donuts before the 9am service instead of inbetween services.
Another thought would be to change the youth sunday school to be during the 2nd service. I've talked to people who say they can't come to the morning service because of youth sunday school. (this may be just an excuse, but it may be looking into).
Advertise! There's nothing better to get people motivated than to advertise. Let people know that something special is happening in the early service. Hypothetically speaking, why would I, a COTK attender, want to get out of bed early when I can sleep in a little and get the same results if I go to the 11am service?
Outreach! I see people who like strolling down the shops along 12 mile rd and wonder to myself, "Why don't they come to COTK?"
