I thought I'd get some wins in writing to start the week.
God has been doing some cool healing stuff in our church this week. Last Sunday we took time in our services to pray for the sick. During the week I received three reports of healing; arthritis, severe back pain, and a stomach problem.
On Thursday one of the men in our church wound up at the hospital. During the past 2 weeks he had been in 2 different hospitals with symptoms that the doctors couldn't diagnose. They finally learned that a past knee injury had released an infection that had filled his blood stream. When they did it was too late for them to intervene. Both of his kidneys totally shut down, and Thursday night they told his family that he probably wouldn't live through the night. We've had several people at Beaumont praying for him, and as of last night he was responsive again. This morning they took him in for a surgery that they hadn't even planned on doing before because they didn't think they'd have the opportunity.
Miracles are the x-factor in church planting. I don't know how to build a church without them. That's why we can't lose a passionate dependency on prayer. Prayer takes us beyond our own potential into a realm of out-of-this world possibilities. Prayer can do anything God can do.
I learned early in the story of our church that God can do more in 30 seconds than I can do in 6 months of 80 hour work weeks. That's not an excuse to stop working. It's motivation to keep depending.
